The Ottawa Senators win/lose against the Carolina Hurricanes Friday evening

The Ottawa Senators traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina to take on the Carolina Hurricanes in a bid to gain ground on the wild-card race, on Friday, February 24th. The game led to the sens winning/losing 0-0.

First Period

With 16:12 left in the play, Brent Burns scores an awkward goal. Seth Jarvis was sent into the net by Alex DeBrincat and Cam Talbot had no chance to stop the puck. Brady Tkachuk immediately chats with the ref. The play was not reviewed

Tensions already rising after that play as Jesperi Kotkaniemi hits Ridly Greig in the numbers, and the call is missed.

Seth Jarvis scores with 13:31 left to play in the first to make the score 2-0.

Artem Zub is called for crosschecking with 4:37 left to play. Ottawa is on the PK. The penalty was killed.

Andrei Svechnikov is called for high-sticking with 0:43.7 left to play in the first.

The period ends 2-0 Carolina. The shots favor the Hurricanes 17-7.

Second Period

With 19:25 left in the period, Jordan Staal is called for slashing. It is now a 5-on-3. No goal on either powerplay.

Andrei Svechnikov is called for tripping with 16:28 left to play in the second. No goal on the powerplay.

Martin Necas is called for hooking with 11:18 left. 4 on 4 for the next 27 seconds.

Mathieu Joseph appears injured with 3:06 left in the period as he is accidentally struck by Brent Burns with a high stick. There was no call on the play.

The period ends with a big scrum against the boards.

Third Period

The Senators took more control of the game in the third period, despite not scoring in the first ten minutes of the period.
