Game-day Preview #56: Boston Bruins Host the Ottawa Senators
After yesterday’s blowout win against the St Louis Blues, they make their way to Boston to go against the top team in the league
Ottawa Senators Notes
The Senators are playing the second game of a back-to-back stretch and hope to win to increase their win streak to 4, and win 8 out of their last 9 games. The Sens dominated against the St Louis Blues yesterday, winning 7-2 in convincing fashion.
In yesterday’s game, Tim Stützle scored 2 goals and 3 points, continuing his strong play for the Senators. He ranks 5th in NHL scoring since January 1st, only trailing Matthew Tkachuk, Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid, and Jack Hughes.
No Morning skate today means the Sens are expected to roll out the same lines today, barring any last-minute changes. The only change of note is Julien Gauthier is expected to make his debut with the Ottawa Senators. He is expected to slot in on the fourth line, replacing Austin Watson.
No comment on who plays in net as of yet. My prediction would be Kevin Mandolese as Mads Sogaard played yesterday.
Rookie forward Ridly Greig scored his first NHL goal yesterday, scoring the seventh and final goal for the Sens.
While the Ottawa Senators are currently 23rd overall in the NHL, they only sit 5 points out of the second wildcard spot and have 4 games in hand to the New York Islanders, who currently hold that spot, who have lost 4 out of their last 5 games.
Boston Bruins Notes
Jeremy Swayman is expected to be in between the pipes this afternoon, this year he has a record of 13-4-4 and a save percentage of .918.
The Bruins are first in the NHL, and on pace to break the record for most wins in an NHL regular season, but have failed to win against the Ottawa Senators this season. This will be their third matchup of the season.
Expect a pregame celebration to honor David Krejci on his 1000th NHL game.
