The Senators wrap up their 3 game series versus the Jets in their first road game

Fresh off of a 4 game homestand, the Ottawa Senators start an 8 game road trip facing off against the Winnipeg Jets.

Having lost their last 3, the Senators will look to bump that trend with a new insertion to the lineup after some recent news about Tim Stützle’s injury.

News & Notes

Tim Stützle was placed on the IR after progress in his return from injury hit a bit of a roadblock but it’s more likely not as serious as it seems and they’re just taking the cautious route. Stützle can still be activated for their game Monday in Vancouver.

Micheal Haley is also being inserted into the lineup for questionable reasons, to say the least. Haley will be getting minutes over Colin White, which is something that should never happen, especially on a rebuilding squad.

The lines in practice today are slightly different from the game on Thursday:

Haley, Christian Wolanin and Artem Anisimov will draw into the lineup while Braydon Coburn, Alex Galchenyuk and Colin White draw out. Questionable moves from D.J. Smith and for a rebuilding team all most Senators fans, including myself, are shaking their head.

The Jets made a blockbuster trade this morning, dealing Patrik Laine to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Of course, Dubois won’t be in the lineup tonight, as he has to go through all of the Covid protocols before he joins his new team.

Starting Goalies

Marcus Hogberg

Hogberg gets his first start of the season after Matt Murray played in the team’s first four games. Hogberg finally broke into the NHL full-time last season, appearing in 24 games and posting a 0.904 SV% and a 3.12 GAA.

Connor Hellebuyck

Ottawa faces the 2019-20 Vezina Trophy winner once again, Hellebuyck stopped 28 of 29 shots in Winnipeg’s 4-1 win on Thursday versus the Senators.
