Welcome to the SenShot mailbag. This is a new series that the writers of this website will look to continue with regularity going forward. Last week, I took to Twitter to see what questions Senators fans have about the team and players, to bring some thoughts and analysis to some of the topics surrounding the Senators. Let’s get right into it!

Q: Assuming the Senators’ season is over, who was your MVP for 2019-20?  (Eric M.)

A lot of Senators had solid campaigns on a relatively poor team, and for the most part, I would say that most of the roster exceeded my expectations. I’ll opt for pure consistency here, and go with Brady Tkachuk. I thought he was excellent in his sophomore campaign and washed away any fear that he wouldn’t be able to produce without Mark Stone.

Tkachuk was a force offensively, with 21 goals and a team-leading 44 points. It’s very difficult to pick out nights where he wasn’t noticeable or had a bad game. If the Senators are able to land some quality forwards in the draft or off-season this summer to compliment Tkachuk, I could foresee him establishing himself as an elite NHL player next year. In my eyes though, he already is.
