Senators prospect rankings top 25: Numbers 20-22
As we move on in this prospect rankings series at SenShot we reveal the next three prospects on this list.
Number 22: Jonny Tychonick
A good friend of another member of this list Jacob Bernard-Docker, they played with each other for most of their lives, now they can continue that as they were both picked by the Ottawa Senators in the draft.
Tychonick is a defensive minded defenceman who is seen as the lesser skilled player when compared to JBD.
He was selected 48th overall, which is quite high considering his credentials. He looked like a bust in his first year at the University of North Dakota.
This year however he has turned it around with three goals and four assists for seven total points in only twelve games, very good for a young defenceman.
Estimated NHL arrival: 2022-23 season.
Number 21: Jean-Christopher Beaudin
Unlike most of the prospects at this end of the list, he has significant NHL experience this season, with already 19 games played for the Senators.
But his lack of offensive skill is apparent and is an issue going forward. On the other hand he is greatly suited for a fourth line role, which he is in right now.
He only has one assist in those games, this is because he doesn’t get too much ice-time, but excels at leading his line to a momentum shift with a great fore check, or a big hit to get his teammates going.
Estimated NHL arrival: This season
Number 20: Christopher Wilkie
Not a very well known Senators prospect, since he was just brought in by a trade only a few weeks ago, from the Florida Panthers. He was traded for Jack Rodewald.
He is a dark-horse NHL prospect but has offensive upside, with 16 points in 14 games already this year in Colorado College.
Estimated NHL arrival: Will not make NHL.
