Sharks may hand us a nice pick

There is a possibility that the San Jose Sharks will continue their downward trajectory and give the Senators a nice pick, hopefully in the top 10.

The Sharks are having a disastrous season from start to finish, mainly because of the atrocious performances from goalie Martin Jones and Aaron Dell.

They are currently 25th in the league with a record of 16-18-2, that’s really bad considering they have the likes of Erik Karlsson, Brent Burns and Logan Couture on their club.

Both of their goalies are playing worse than back ups, and if not for their lack of organizational goalie depth they should be sent to the minors. Like what happened to New Jersey Devils goalie Cory Schneider.

Jones is 3.30 and 0.888% in 27 games, while Dell is only slightly better at, 3.17 and 0.895 in 13 contests.

Either way that’s not the goaltending any team wants, especially not for a perennial contender like the San Jose Sharks.

GM Doug Wilson has done a great job securing free agents and winning trades, but with all that’s happening this year he must be on a short leash by now.

They have 98 goals and have let in 125 which is a -27 goal differential. That’s almost a -1 per game!

I mean you think of bad goal differentials around the league like Detroit’s -62 and New Jersey’s -38. But the Sharks shouldn’t be in that position with that much skill on their team.

If all of this keeps up Senators fans around the world will be rejoicing, because like what happened to Ottawa with the original Duchene deal, the Sharks will give Ottawa a very nice pick.

Senators GM Pierre Dorion must be happy with the way things are going in the rebuild. With Nick Paul and Logan Brown securing spots on the permanent lineup and Erik Brannstrom having a fine year.

It’s looking like the rebuild might be over sooner than expected.
