The Senators have defeated the Boston Bruins 5-2 on Monday night hockey.

This is definitely a momentum boosting win for the Sens. Last time they played the Bruins on November 2nd, they were defeated 5-2.

That game was an odd game since the Senators controlled the game for a complete 40 minutes, but their play fell off a cliff in the third period, thus ensuring a Bruins win.

This game however the Senators hung on to win, although they did score two empty netters to Bostons credit.

The Bruins were shooting off of all cylinders, as they out shot the Senators 40-28. They could’ve easily had many more shots as evident in the blocked shots column, which is 29-6 in favour of Ottawa.

A big part of the win was Ottawa keeping sustained pressure on throughout the entirety of the contest. Ottawa’s big guns were lighting up the lamp, Pageau and Duclair, while the Bruins big guns were almost silent.

They were definitely putting in the effort, but the results just didn’t show up for them. David Pastrnak now hasn’t scored a goal in four games, his longest goal-less drought of the season.

That just goes to show you how amazing of a season Pastrnak is having.

The Senators just came of of a hard five game road trip in which they went 1-4-0 sustaining a couple of hard losses against the Wild and Canucks, 7-2 and 5-2 respectively.

Thomas Chabot is nearing a milestone as he is one away from his 100th point of his young career. He is having a good season so far with three goals and 16 assists for 19 points in 31 games, as the main offensive defenceman on the Senators blueline.

But the biggest story of the year besides for Pageau’s emergence, is Anthony Duclair’s great season. I will expand on this in an upcoming article.
