The Belleville Senators easily cast away the Cleveland Monsters one day after losing to them.

On Friday night the Sens were stung by a great performance by the Cleveland Monsters, who downed them 6-2.

Although a bit disheartened at best they pushed through and were rewarded with a nice, confidence building victory on Saturday night.

A big reason for the victory was the great play of Marcus Hogberg who just returned from his brief 1.5 game stint in the NHL for the Ottawa Senators. You could see the confidence building rapidly in the play of Hogberg, as he leads the Sens to yet another win.

Max Veranneau and Alex Formenton each scored a pair of goals to go with a three point night by the B-Sens leader in the offence category, Drake Batherson.

Jordan Murray, Josh Norris and Rudolfs Balcers all had two points and goaltender Marcus Hogberg, who we touched on earlier shined with 29 saves on 30 shots.

This great play of the Sens AHL affiliate is crucial for the bigger scheme of things in this multi-year rebuild. There are now many players in the AHL who are pushing hard for a spot in Ottawa.

Now Ottawa GM Pierre Dorion has options, maybe now he could trade away some veterans like, Ron Hainsey, Chris Tierney, Mikkel Boedker and Tyler Ennis, or maybe he could just sit tight and watch the prospects develop in the AHL on a winning team.

Either way its looking great for the years ahead for this franchise, just two years ago it seemed there was no hope and we had no prospects and no future. Since then the Senators management has done a great job of accumulating Grade-A prospects in the hope of a bright future in Ottawa.
