Jean-Gabriel Pageau once again fuels the Ottawa Senators to victory
Jean-Gabriel Pageau really is having a season for the ages, as he has once again lit up the opposition with goals, resulting in another Ottawa Senators win.
He had a shortened season last year only playing in 39 games because of an injury in training camp, which resulted in him only getting four goals all year and 12 points.
However, even though this year the sens came into the season with extremely low expectations, Jean-Gabriel Pageau has been one of the main reasons for the unexpected good play of the team as a whole.
So far he already has eleven goals to go with four assists and 15 points in only 18 games and is first on the club in points and goals.

One possibly overlooked statistic that the centreman has really excelled in this year is his +/- which is a sparkling +19 through 18 contests.
This currently sits him atop the league and is four ahead of the next player who is John Carlson with a +15.
Labelled before the season as one of Ottawa’s alternate captains, Pageau has really done his job par excellence so far.
Although there are currently three players sharing the alternate captaincy; Ron Hainsey, Pageau and Mark Borowiecki, I think by now the main leaders on this club are Pageau and Borowiecki.
But Hainsey is also having a good season so don’t count him out completely.
This hot-start from Pageau can really go a long way in terms of the Senators long-term rebuild. Because it is more than likely the sens management will ship Pageau off to a contender, most likely at the deadline.
The better he plays now the more handsome the return will be for the Sens.
On a side note, there are now only three Ottawa Senators players left from the 2017 run to the Eastern Conference Finals, Pageau, Ryan and ageing goaltender, Craig Anderson.
With the Senators likely to trade Pageau and Anderson at the deadline, it looks like only four years after there will only be one player left from that magical run.
