The Ottawa Senators will be represented in the World Championships next month after Colin White received a call-up to Team USA.

Ottawa Senators forward Colin White returns to the Team USA World Championships roster for the second-straight year, having represented his country in 2018.

During his spell with Team USA last year, White earned a bronze medal for his efforts – registering two goals and an assist in ten games.

White has plenty of international experience under his belt already from his successful stints in juniors, where he won gold in both the Under-20s and Under-18s World Juniors in 2016/17 and 2014/15 respectively.

White, 22, completed his first ‘full’ season in the NHL in 2018/19 and showed real growth since making his debut back in 2017.

In 71 regular season games with the Sens, White earned 14 goals and 41 total points – with two of his goals being game winners.

White’s development over the season is a positive sign for a rebuilding Senators organisation, with plenty of young talent making their way through the organisation.

Originally a first round (21st overall) selection by the Ottawa Senators in the 2015 draft, White refined his game with Boston College for two seasons before being brought into the organisation’s system, initially with their AHL affiliates.

After earning 30 points (12 goals, 18 assists) in 50 AHL regular season games, White has now firmly established himself as a key component to the Senators’ roster moving forward.

With the team likely to have one of the youngest rosters in the league next season, it will be key for the Senators to lock up White for the long-term, with the American being a restricted free agent this summer.

There will also be high expectations for White to continue his development and truly lead the way alongside the likes of Brady Tkachuk and veterans such as Jean-Gabriel Pageau.

For now, the call-up to the national side is a great achievement for the 22-year-old and fans of the organisation will no doubt be interested to see how he performs in the tournament this time around.
