On Tuesday the Ottawa Senators were able to come away with another victory, this time over the New Jersey Devils.
With their victory over the Devils, the Ottawa Senators have now won three of their past four games. Their sole loss in this time period being against Montreal.
First Period
The first period saw an explosion of offence. The Devils scored first two minutes in to get the early lead. Then there were 10 minutes where the game was in a stalemate before Mike Hoffman tied the game on the powerplay. Then the Sens scored twice in the final five minutes off of goals by DiDomenico and Duchene to acquire a 3-1 lead at the end of the period.
Second Period
The second period was another strong one for the Ottawa Senators. Colin White scored early on and with his first NHL goal gave the Sens a 4-1 lead. The Devils would answer back off a goal by Taylor Hall, but Zack Smith scored before the period ended to give the Sens a 5-2 lead at the end of the period.
Third Period
The third period saw the Devils attempt to mount a comeback. They scored once five minutes in but after that they were shutdown by the Ottawa Senators. This resulted in a 5-3 victory by the Ottawa Senators.
Coming Out On Top
This was a game that the Ottawa Senators were severely disadvantaged due to injuries. A significant portion of their top six was absent. However, despite this the Sens were able to come out on top.
