The Ottawa Senators have now lost 9 of their last 10 games after another defeat last night. It was a loss to the Anaheim Ducks by the score of 3-0.
The California road trip didn’t get off to the start the Ottawa Senators needed, falling 3-0. Now the Sens dig themselves even deeper in the hole.
First Period
The first period started off decently for the Ottawa Senators. They killed off two early penalties and looked like a team that could compete. However, they then failed to capitalize on three powerplays. The result of this was the game heading to intermission tied at zero.
Second Period
Early in the second period the Anaheim Ducks scored to take the early lead. They added another half way through the game. It looked like this would turn out as many games had recently, but the Sens were given an opportunity. Soon after the second goal they went on the powerplay with a chance to cut the difference in half. However, the Sens failed to execute and the period would go on without further scoring.
Third Period
The third period saw the Ottawa Senators out shoot the Ducks 13 to 7. They controlled the play for the most part but were unable to get a puck past Miller. The Ducks added another goal with a minute and a half remaining to win the game 3-0.
Positives
It’s hard to remain positive in difficult times. With this loss the Ottawa Senators are 1-8-1 in their last 10. However, as fans we have to keep in mind that the season is far from over. The biggest positive this game was it appeared that Karlsson is getting back to form. He had 5 shots on goal while playing 28 minutes. If he can continue to improve the Sens will start winning games again soon.
