Ottawa Senators Losing Streak Reaches Seven In Montreal
The disaster that is the Ottawa Senators continued their state of losing last night. Despite an early lead they failed to hold on and ultimately lost their seventh straight game.
The Ottawa Senators are in free fall and a team that seems to be lacking hope. After a strong October that appeared to put them solidly in a playoff spot they have fallen apart on November. They have no lost seven straight after losing to Montreal by the score of 2-1.
First Period
The first period was once again the best one for the Ottawa Senators. However, they were unable to continue a strong start through the entire game. The Sens actually got into penalty trouble in the first with two penalties. However, they were the team to strike first. Stone stripped the puck from a Montreal defender to open up the scoring on the penalty kill. The remainder of the period saw the two teams go back and forth with no results and the period ended 1-0 for Ottawa.
Second Period
The second period was one of the worst periods in recent memory for the Sens and that’s saying something. They coughed up the lead three minutes in and let Montreal take the lead after another two minutes. The Sens were outplayed, outworked, out shot, and outscored. They also failed to capitalize on three separate powerplays. At this point it’s expected for the Sens to fail in that area. The period ended 2-1.
Third Period
The third saw the Sens with a little more fight in them as they out shot Montreal, but it was too late. Price shut the door and the Sens lost for the seventh straight time.
