At this time one month ago the Ottawa Senators were doing well. They had 15 points in 12 games and were comfortably in a playoff spot. One month later and the Ottawa Senators have gathered just seven more points and sit third last in the Eastern Conference.
The Month of November was one of the most hectic in Ottawa Senators history. There was a massive trade and an international road trip. The team saw early success followed by terrible failure. It’s been a month the Sens Army would like to forget.
Acquiring Duchene
The month started with a win over Detroit and a loss to Vegas. Both were close affairs but the Sens managed a win prior to their trip to Sweden. However, it was November 5th that made the news. The Sens acquired Matt Duchene in a massive three team deal that saw Kyle Turris go to Nashville. Upon his arrival the Sens won their first two games, both in Sweden over Colorado. However, since then the team has struggled.
The Losing Streak
Once the Sens returned from Sweden they lost their next seven games and counting. Only one game saw them get a point. The Sens were so bad in November that they won more games in Europe than in North America. Duchene struggled to score until the game against the Islanders and everyone outside of Mark Stone has been playing poorly or playing hurt.
