The Ottawa Senators continue to crumble as they lost their fifth straight game last night. It was close until the end of the game when the Blue Jackets ran away with it and won by the score of 5-2.
It’s starting to look like the Ottawa Senators will go winless on their road trip after losing another game. This was the first half of a back to back and they will have to bounce back quickly in order to get anything out of this trip.
First Period
The first period actually started out well for the Ottawa Senators with Tom Pyatt opening the scoring halfway through the period. However, it took just 26 seconds for the Blue Jackets to respond. The game stood at 1-1 as the period game to a close.
Second Period
The second period was adequate for the Sens. They gave up the first goal seven minutes in, but responded a minute and a half later. Mike Hoffman with his eight of the season tied the game at two. That would be the score heading into the third.
Third Period
With the game locked at two it seemed like the next goal would win it. When the Sens went on the powerplay at the halfway mark it looked like they had a chance to close it. It was one of their best efforts on the powerplay in a long time, but they were robbed by Bobrovsky. As soon as it looked like the Sens might win this one the Blue Jackets took the lead. Then shortly after they took a two goal lead. They sealed the game with an empty netter and the game ended 5-2.
