In the most recent game against the New York Rangers for the Ottawa Senators, Mark Borowiecki was injured. As a result, the Sens have called up Thomas Chabot from Belleville.
Borowiecki is the second defenceman in as many games to go down for the Ottawa Senators. With Chris Wideman going down in the previous game, the Ottawa Senators had no choice but to recall Thomas Chabot from the AHL. As much as it is a bad thing that the Sens have suffered injuries, this could end up being a blessing in disguise for the Sens.
Previous Call Up
Chabot played three games for the Sens on a previous call up earlier in the season. In those three games he registered two assists. In 12 games in the AHL this season he has two goals and five assists for seven points. With Chabot now back on the NHL roster it could help spark the Sens to get them out of their current slump.
Help On The Powerplay
One of the biggest problems the Sens have had this season has been the powerplay. Through 19 games this season the Sens sit at a 17.9% success rate which is 21st overall. The season started with the Sens struggling immensely before a hot streak that saw their powerplay stats improve. Recently the powerplays early season form has returned. In order to remain competitive, the Sens need to improve their powerplay. Thomas Chabot could be the answer to this problem.

The brief period the Sens performed well on the powerplay was while Chabot was with the team. Chabot is a high end offensive defenceman that has an expertise on the powerplay. With the Ottawa Senators being forced to bring back Chabot they could improve over night.
