The Ottawa Senators have been making recalls from Belleville all season and it’s no different today. They recalled Nick Paul once again from Belleville.
In an interesting move the Ottawa Senators once again chose to recall forward Nick Paul from Belleville. This is an interesting move as he was just sent back down to Belleville earlier in the week. He had been on the trip to Sweden but was sent down soon after.
Performance This Season
Paul has played one NHL game this season and 12 in the AHL. His one NHL game was the second game in Sweden where he only registered six minutes of ice time. In 12 games with Belleville he registered no goals and five assists.
Giving Boucher Options
Recalling Paul is likely just to give options to coach Guy Boucher. He has opted to use only 11 forwards and instead ice seven defencemen for many games this season. Although it has been effective it isn’t the ideal way to ice a lineup.
Waiting For Colin White
In bringing up Paul the Sens are giving Colin White more time to grow in the AHL. He is likely someone the Sens would like to bring up before the season ends but needs more time to get into game shape after his injury. In seven games this season in Belleville, White has two goals and three assists for five points.

A Healthy Scratch
Nick Paul will not draw into the lineup today but could in the future if someone falters. However, in all likelihood it seems like he will mostly be a healthy scratch while in Ottawa.
