The Ottawa Senators have struggled with injuries so far this season. Luckily the young guys have been able to step up and the Sens have a strong early season record. However, with some of the young players being sent down it likely means a return of some of the regulars.

The Ottawa Senators announced today that they assigned Colin White, Max McCormick, and Filip Chlapik to the AHL. With this happening it likely means much of the forward core is likely ready to return. Zack Smith already made his return against the Devils. As for Kyle Turris, he was only out with an illness and will likely return soon.

Colin White

With three players being sent down let’s breakdown what it means for each of them. For Colin White he will likely be gone on a conditioning stint before returning to Ottawa. Before breaking his wrist during pre-season he was set to make the team. He will more than likely get an opportunity to earn his spot. Once he has played a few games in Belleville he will return for the Sens.

Max McCormick

Max McCormick is a grinder and a player that can be expected to bounce back and forth between the AHL and NHL. He will spend more time in the minors but can play in the NHL if need be. He performed well during his short time in Ottawa. However, there’s no reason for him to stay if the Sens are healthy.

Filip Chlapik

Filip Chlapik performed well for the Sens despite playing just one game. He got his first point just four seconds into his first shift in the league. Although he played just one game he showed that he has the potential to play with the Sens soon. He will spend the majority of the season in the AHL unless the Sens get into injury trouble. However, he will play for the Sens sooner rather than later.

Taking Advantage Of A Healthy Lineup

With the Ottawa Senators sending three players back to the AHL it means they may finally have a healthy lineup. Now is the time for them to put up points and do some serious damage.
