Ottawa Senators Finish Road Trip Against Edmonton Oilers

CALGARY, AB - OCTOBER 13: Mark Stone

The Ottawa Senators won last night against the Calgary Flames to bring their record to 2-0-2. In doing so they are one of three teams along with the Kings and Hurricanes who have yet to be defeated in regulation.

This will be the final game of the Ottawa Senators trip through western Canada. As a result, it may be last game without Erik Karlsson. The Sens will be looking to close out the trip on a high note.

Forward

The forwards available remain the same for the Ottawa Senators and are as follows: Derick Brassard, Logan Brown, Alex Burrows, Ryan Dzingel, Alex Formenton, Mike Hoffman, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Tom Pyatt, Bobby Ryan, Zack Smith, Mark Stone, Nate Thompson, and Kyle Turris. The last few games the Sens have opted to ice only eleven forwards. As a result, rookies Brown and Formenton were not played. However, Christian Jaros has been sent back to the AHL, meaning that one of these two will draw into the lineup.

Defence

The defence could be different from previous games. Johnny Oduya joined the team on their road trip but did not take the ice against the Flames. However, this may indicate that he will play tonight against the Oilers. Along with Oduya, the Sens have Mark Borowiecki, Cody Ceci, Thomas Chabot, Fredrik Claesson, Dion Phaneuf, and Chris Wideman available. If Oduya returns Chabot is likely the odd man out. However, with Boucher choosing to use seven defencemen in recent games Chabot may still play.

Goal

In goal it seems likely that Mike Condon will get his first start of the season. Anderson got the shut out last night, but it’s rare that the same goaltender will get the start in a back to back.
