The Ottawa Senators left the rink for the first time last night after completing a 6-2 rout of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The game got off to a fast start for the Ottawa Senators as Tyler Randell took a pass from Mark Stone just two minutes into the game and put it in the back of the net to give the Sens the lead. Once the Sens had the lead they never let up. Over the next five minutes Hoffman put up two of his own to give the Sens a 3-0 lead before the 10 minute mark of the first period. It seemed as though the Leafs could mount a comeback when Matthews answered back late in the period. However, less than a minute later Stone put up his first of the pre-season. The Sens left the first period with a 4-1 lead.
The second period saw the Sens put up two more goals from Gagne and Ceci. The Leafs would answer back late in the third but it was far too late and the Sens would win the game 6-2. A dominant performance by the Sens to start the pre-season.
Standouts
Standouts for the Sens were Hoffman and Stone. Both looked dominant and in good form as we approach the season. Anderson turned away 15 of 16 shots to finish with a 0.938 SV% on the night.
Thomas Chabot also performed remarkably well. He led the Sens in ice time by playing 22:07. He added one assist while playing a large chunk of time on both the powerplay and penalty kill.

Injries
Unfortunately for the Sens Colin White left the ice with an injury after blocking a shot late in the third period. If it turns out that White is injured the Sens will have to turn to other young options to help with their forward depth. The Sens play the Leafs again tonight, this time in Toronto
