Ottawa Senators: Rookie Camp And Tournament Invites Announced

As August is coming to an end so is the off-season. In September training camp and pre-season will hit and quickly be followed by the start of the season. However, today the first pre-season action began as the Ottawa Senators announced the invites to their rookie camp.

The players invited will participate in a three team round robin tournament. The three teams participating will be the Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Montreal Canadiens. The team consists of 13 forwards, eight defencemen, and two goalies. They will be coached by the head coach of the Belleville Senators, Kurt Kleinendorst as well as a few assistants.

Of the players invited to the rookie camp and tournament 13 were draft picks of the Sens. One was traded for, and three were free agent signings. Additionally, there are six players who were invited on tryout contracts.

The most notable players invited include three players who saw NHL time last season in Thomas Chabot, Colin White, and Andreas Englund. Additionally, 2016 first round pick Logan Brown was invited.

The roster for the rookie tournament is as follows:

Forwards: Drake Batherson, Logan Brown, Filip Chlapik, Bobby Dow, Alex Formenton, Gabriel Gagne, Matteo Gennaro, Parker Kelly, Francis Perron, Jack Rodewald, Pius Suter, Jordan Topping, Colin White.

Defencemen: Charles-David Beaudoin, Thomas Chabot, Cody Donaghey, Andreas Englund, Macoy Erkamps, Christian Jaros, Maxime Lajoie, Jordan Murray.

Goalies: Marcus Hogberg, Jordan Hollett.

Tournament Information

The 2017 rookie tournament will take place from September 8th to the 10th in Toronto at the Rocoh Coliseum. Each day there will be one game. On the eight Monteal will play Toronto at 7 p.m. The tournament contines on the ninth where Ottawa will play Montreal at 7 p.m. Finally, the tournament will conclude on the tenth where Ottawa will play Toronto at 4 p.m.
