Nate Thompson may have spent the better part of the last decade in the sunshine but he’s more than ready for the cold weather with the Ottawa Senators.
Thompson has spent the better part of the last decade playing in California and Florida. He’s bound to have grown accustomed to the warm weather. Lucky for the Sens, the opportunity to reunite with Coach Guy Boucher appears to have been worth it. He says he might need an adjustment period having played in warm places for eight years but is very excited to come to play for the Ottawa Senators. Joining a Canadian team was one of the appeals of coming to Ottawa for him. “That was the exciting part of signing here was not only coming to a good team, but to come to a Canadian market.” A player who looks forward to playing in a Canadian market won’t be rattled by the pressure.
Believing In The Team
Notably Thompson also said that he believes that the Sens are a contender. He doesn’t buy into the idea that they were just a Cinderella team. Having players that believe in the system is very important and Thompson will do what needs to be done. A team like the Sens that isn’t going to overwhelm the opposition with its skill, needs to buy into the system. The puck hasn’t dropped on the new season just yet but looks like Thompson has already bought in. Having played under Boucher in Tampa before he shouldn’t have a problem adapting to their play-style.

Wrap Up
The Ottawa Senators need players who are willing to sacrifice individual stats for team play. Thompson looks like he could be the type of player to do just that. Coming in as a role player he should fit right into Guy Boucher’s system.
