With only three hours until the Ottawa Senators embark on their playoff journey against the Boston Bruins. We outline some final thoughts.

Nervous? Of course you are, it’s the NHL playoffs, for crying out loud. Eternal glory awaits the winner, the losers forgotten. Forgotten is a word that can be used to describe this Ottawa Senators side all season. No one rated them, no one tipped them and no one feared them. Oh, how they were mistaken.

Mistakes, which have apparently been made again. Most hockey writers that I have seen in the last few days have heavily backed the Boston Bruins. We try to be realistic on this site (well, as real as we can), but we genuinely feel that the Ottawa Senators are being overlooked once more. It’s worked so far for the team, so let it continue I say! This Sens team thrive on being underdogs, overachievers and above all “boring to watch”. For the other 14 sides heading to the beach, how boring are the Sens now?

Drill this into the team in that locker room Boucher, tell them everyone thinks that you shouldn’t be here. Rile them up, look in their eyes and tell each player that every single one of them is out there to make a point, every night.

Let’s be havin’ you!

You’re probably sick to death of stats, stats, stats. It’s now time to get behind this team, and look behind the numbers and at the players themselves.  Numbers are great for the regular season but welcome to the anomaly in the matrix, the Stanley Cup playoffs.

#65 Can lead this team further than anyone has foreseen, his hunger to win this trophy is one large appetite.

One thing that writers and fans alike have said this season is that when this team implements The System, their unity is incredibly difficult to breakdown. Karlsson and Phaneuf will lead this team with the assistance of Stone and Anderson. My word these guys must be pumped to work their skates off for their goaltender.
