The Ottawa Senators have acquired Tommy Wingles from the San Jose Sharks.
Tommy Wingels has 51 goals and ‎122 points in his career 337 games. The 28 year old forward can play both center as well as the wing. In 38 games this season, he has scored 5 goals, 3 assists for 8 points.
The six-foot, 200-pounder, makes the Senators bottom six forwards more reliable as well adding playoff experience with 22 career playoff games and a Stanley Cup final appearance.
The Evanston, IL native’s best season came in 2013-14 when he had a career-high 38 points with seven game-winning goals.
San Jose will pay 30% of Wingel’s salary as part of the trade. Wingel will carry a $1,732,500 cap hit for the reminder of the season before becoming an UFA on July 1st.

The Senators sent Buddy Robinson, Zack Stortini and a 2017 7th rounder to the Sharks.
Buddy Robinson has 7 goals and 5 assists for 12 points in 33 games played for the BInghamton Senators this year. The 25 year old, 6’5, 236 lbs. winger was held pointless in all of his 4 NHL games this season.
The Senators also shipped out AHL captain Zack Stortini. The 31 year old RW was in his second season in Binghamton. Stortini has 3 points in 22 games this season. Stortini has played in 1 NHL game since 2011-12.
Wingels is expected to travel to Ottawa to join the team on Wednesday.
