We’ve been left with a gigantic cliffhanger by the Ottawa Senators without a concrete idea as to what we might be anticipating.

The Senators announced via official release that they are set to make a “significant hockey announcement” on Tuesday.

Whatever it is, it’s something monumental enough that a simple Tweet wouldn’t suffice. Clearly they’re expecting some follow up questions from the masses that the Twitter universe isn’t equipped to handle.

The Senators are holding a press conference at 2:30 p.m. ET tomorrow, and several high profile members of the franchise will be in attendance.

Owner Eugene Melnyk, Senior Hockey Advisor Bryan Murray, General Manager Pierre Dorion, and a mixture of current and former Senators players are expected to be present.

The press conference is going to be held at the Canadian Tire Centre, and I’m already intrigued as to what the declaration can possibly be.

Maybe they’re going to make a formal announcement on the state of the Binghamton Senators.

Rumors have been circulating that the AHL team is trying to move closer to Ottawa, and renovations are taking place at Yardmen Arena in Belleville.

There’s some complications with this attempt to relocate, because after the 2016-2017 season, there’s still 3 years remaining on the lease at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.

Perhaps the Senators are set to announce that some resolution on this matter has been arrived at.

The other scenario that comes to mind involves naming a site for the outdoor game that’s been trying to get green-lit for Ottawa in December 2017.

I don’t think this is about the outdoor game, though. That sounds like something that Gary Bettman and other NHL executives would be present for, and there were no mentions of them being expected to be in attendance tomorrow.

Judging from the figures who’ll be present at the press conference, it sounds like it’s purely a Senators’ affair. That leads me to believe that it’s more likely to be about the Binghamton situation.

We’ll find out tomorrow, though. Now that they’ve got everybody’s attention, hopefully the news isn’t too anticlimactic.
