MATCH-UP HISTORY
Binghamton won a close one last Saturday defeating the Penguins 4-3 down in Scranton, but the Pens hold the season’s lead edging the Sens in five of seven played.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Andrew Ebbett, WBS – The one time Binghamton Senator was recently sent down for the fourth time this season from parent club Pittsburgh. He has 38 points in 34 games for WB/Scranton as his 4 GWG’s has him ranked second on the team along with a healthy +18. Small is structure, but immensely talented with the puck, as the 32-year-old undrafted veteran completes his 9th year in the pros that began with the Senators back in 2006.
Carter Camper, BNG – The playmaking Camper was banged up and sat, luckily for him, in last Sunday’s massacre at Bridgeport as he looks to be back in action playing tonight while adding to his current 9 game point streak (14) along with having at least an assist in the last 6 (9). Camper has 13 goals along with 33 assists in 64 games in which by the end of the season, he should reach career highs in those two categories.
THREE KEYS TO THE GAME
1. Clubs with Identical Records – As both teams are 6-3-1-0 in their last ten games, it’s the Pens that are more at risk of losing then the Sens as they are jockeying for the final post season position in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, Binghamton is playing out the season filling the role as spoilers and a win tonight couldn’t be more than satisfying over their Pennsylvania rivals.
2. Goaltender Matt Murray – The AHL record holder in consecutive shutout minutes also leads the league with a 1.56 GAA and a 0.941 SV% featuring 10 shutouts. Those are big time numbers for the 20-year-old rookie as he has played in 34 games and should get the nod tonight against the Senators. That’s the kind of goalie you want in nets if you are going to advance deep into the post season.
3. D-Man Chris Wideman – Chris is still in front of all AHL defensemen with a league high 34 assists contributing to his high of 50 points over second place Brad Hunt of the Oklahoma City Barons by 6, while being tied in goals with several others with 16. Wideman also leads in shots with 196 and has been a cornerstone on the 2nd ranked power play.
