Binghamton Senators Close Out Weekend Up In Flames Country

The Binghamton Senators will once again try to salvage their three in three weekend with a late afternoon meeting today against the Adirondack Flames up in Glens Falls, NY. This will be the final game ever between the two teams as the Flames are one of five clubs in the league heading out west to join California, for them in the Stockton area.

MATCH-UP HISTORY

This is the second game slated between the two clubs as the Senators won 5-3 behind Matt Puempel‘s three-point night back in early December in Binghamton.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Trevor Gillies, ADK – The 36-year-old enforcer returns to action after participating in only 16 games for the Flames this season followed by his earlier onslaught of Rochester Americans’ forward William Carrier, which resulted in a 12 game suspension for him slamming his head to the ice after a brief tussle with the rookie.

Ryan Dzingel, BNG – The rookie out of Ohio State had a decent game on Saturday with a timely goal in what was an otherwise a poor effort lacking a killer instinct in the final result. Ryan remains a work in progress as he needs to learn how to distribute the puck when rushing into the offensive zone.

THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

1. Senators Not Playing a Full 60 – After Saturday night’s loss to Hartford followed by Friday’s contest in losing against the Bears, it’s apparent the team needs to play hard for a full 60 minutes in order for some success in being a solution in not to lose. The question remains is if they can carry out this simple concept as it has eluded them in recent games.

2. Three in Threes are Always Tough Senators will finish off the weekend on the road topping off a three in three as they embark in ending a two game losing skid. It won’t get any easier as next weekend will follow the same formula set up.

3. Flames and Senators Only Battle Twice – This is puzzling as there are only two games scheduled on the docket which takes away from the built up rivalry type of thing between the two cities with a long history that includes the days back then in the UHL where AHL hockey was non-existent. In the end, I feel bad for Glens Falls’ fans as they have seen a turnover in recent years that would drive any die-hard hockey fan absolutely crazy. Good Luck Adirondack!
