Let’s Bash The Leafs, McDavid Mentions, Hind-Sight
Twitter is the best news medium in the world, news breaks first on twitter and it offers fans of sports teams or citizens to voice their opinions online about a certain subject. But, it’s also a great place for jokes, hind-sight, and more..
Here’s the Ottawa Senators weekly story, in the form of our favourite Tweets.
While I’m not a big one for Drake, it’s always cool when you can tie current events with Senators storylines. Joe (@slowhnds) nails it on this one.
Congrats to Andrew Hammond on his first NHL win, but if you’re buying what Senshot writer Jeff often sells, I wouldn’t get my hopes up for the sub .900 sv% AHL athlete.

The media in Toronto seems to be all over the place when covering the leafs. Looking at the headline from late 2013, “Are the Leafs Good, or Just Lucky” certainly would’ve raised some eyebrows as they were playoff bound at that point.
Of course, as Stephen Whyno points out, we know the answer now.

This one comes from TSN’s Darren Dutchyshen, as he points out how terrible the Leafs collapse has been. In just over two months the Leafs have fallen out of a playoff spot and are now competing for a lottery draft pick.
Zoning in specifically on Carolina shows how drastic this year’s edition of the collapse has been.
Side Note: the Leafs have gone 2-17-2 since Jan 1st.

This exchange between former Senators ‘tender Alex Auld is pretty great. Auld has already been through two stints with the club, so who says it can’t happen again?
Auld is of course referring to the Senators current goaltending situation, where the team has been left with a tandem of Chris Driedger as they head into the trade deadline.

This one isn’t necessarily recent, in fact it came back in 2013. However this guy must be thick. Colin Greening on a great contract? Imagine if that was the case.
Meanwhile, Greening is collecting his nearly $3 000 000 paycheque down in the AHL where he has 4 goals and 6 points in 11 games.

I can’t agree more with Derrick B here. Jean-Gabriel Pageau had another great outing vs the Habs and has shown his value as a bottom 6 forward in the NHL.
After not making the team out of training camp this season, Pageau has come in and provided solid depth for this team. At this point he’s a suitable and potentially more capable replacement for Zack Smith. Pageau is here to stay.

SensChirp teases us for the second week in a row, or perhaps it’s TSN this time around.
Maaaan, how I would love McDavid on the Senators, let’s just get it out of our mind early and expect disappointments as we’ve come to know surrounding this team.

That’s that for this week — stay tuned and follow Senshot on Twitter @SenShot_FS.
