MATCH-UP HISTORY
Binghamton pulls ahead after their recent 3-2 win down in Allentown highlighting four wins in seven games with three remaining including tonight’s contest.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Andrew Gordon, LV – The long time AHL veteran of 476 games has 15 goals and 16 assists in his first year for the Phantoms. Gordon played parts of four seasons for the rival Hershey Bears from 2007-’08 through 2010-’11.
Nick Tuzzolino, BNG – Big man, as he’s listed at 6′ 5″ 225lbs, brings toughness to the blue line with toughness that’s been missing since Mike Sdao went down due to injury. The 29-year-old has been playing pro since the 2008-’09 season in bouncing back and forth between the ECHL and the AHL.
THREE KEYS TO THE GAME
1. Darren Kramer – Is he the modern day version of Brian McGrattan of days ago for Binghamton as Kramer leads the league in minutes with 192 and majors at 18 after 48 games? Not even close, as McGrattan has set an AHL single-season record for penalties with 551 in 2004-’05 while playing for the Sens.
2. Matt Puempel – With Shane Prince now skating for parent club Ottawa, Puempel should now be the next focus for not only his powerful, quick wrister, but he’s starting to improve to be a more rounded player in dishing assists along with better fore-checking.
3. The Zack Stortini Effect – The ex-NHL veteran of 257 games covering the last 12 pro seasons mostly for Edmonton, Stortini been a thorn to the side of the Senators in the past playing for Norfolk last season, and now for the Phantoms.
