Lebreton Flats, Senators Organization, Greening Waived

Here’s another edition of Around The Web, this featuring storylines from inside the Senators Organization, and Talk on Lebreton Flats.

6th Sens, “Senators CFO, Erin Crowe to Leave Organization” – Nichols

Submission: Josh Chenoweth

6th Sens has a good piece on the Senators’ outgoing CFO, Erin Crowe. Given the constant worrying by fans (and rightly so) over this team’s internal budget, along with other factors Nichols mentions here, we should keep an eye out to see how this void could potentially impact the organization.

TSN.ca “Drawing Penalties a valuable NHL skill” – Travis Yost

Submission: Trevor Shackles

Former Hockeybuzz writer Travis Yost looks at players who draw penalties well, and also players who hinder their team by taking too many penalties. It’s no surprise to me that I saw Chris Neil at the top of the list for players who takes way more penalties than he draws, as he’s been always been at the top of the league in PIMs.

Maybe the front-office can look at that and realize that Neil’s “toughness” is costing them in the long run.

Ottawa Sun “Sens serious about Lebreton” – Bruce Garrioch

Garrioch’s piece updates us on the status of Ottawa’s involvement in the Lebreton Flats project. Personally, I think the move would be great for the team and the city, and considering the CTC would need an overhaul within 5 years, maybe the move is best.

Senshot.com “Notes On Colin Greening Being Waived”

A look at Colin Greening as he prepares to leave the Senators organization. Senshot Writer, Josh has a few questions on Greening.

Will he be claimed? Traded? Will he ever make it back to the NHL? Only time will tell, and it certainly was time for Ottawa to move on from Greening and his unfortunate contract.
