The Ottawa Senators have seen an improvement in play since changing head coaches. Dave Cameron has a 6-6-3 record as of January 15th, 2015. The last article I wrote outlined how the team has improved in various areas under Cameron. Some Senators players have experienced great improvement in statistics since he took over for Paul MacLean.

The Senators have clearly improved under Cameron. They are now generating more offense. The Senators have improved 3.9 points in Even Strength Corsi% and 3.7 points in Corsi% across all strengths. To read my previous article go here.

Since Cameron has taken over most players have seen drastic improvement to their Corsi numbers.
Most of the Senators have seen improvement to their numbers. The players in the table above are the ones who have seen the most significant increase. The table above deals with Corsi% during even strength play. It is very positive to see that Clarke MacArthur, Alex Chiasson, and Kyle Turris are all players who have seen positive change in their Corsi%. Those three players currently make up the Senators first line. Under MacLean the trio all had sub 50% Corsi percentages. Under Dave Cameron they sport very good percentages.
Bobby Ryan is another Senator who has seen improvement after the coaching change. His Corsi% under MacLean was 45.7. Senators fans expect big things from Bobby Ryan. It is a positive sign that he now sports a percentage of 51.1. Ryan is now on for more shot attempts for than shots against.
Erik Karlsson is the cornerstone of the Senators defense. Karlsson is the quarterback of the Senators power play. Although the percentages above only deal with even strength play the numbers are extremely positive for Karlsson. Karlsson logs big minutes for the Senators. He is third in the whole league in Time On Ice. Karlsson average 27:15 minutes of ice time. Karlsson sported a 49.1% Corsi percentage with MacLean coaching, under Cameron his number is 54.9. The Senators top defenseman, the player who ranks third in the NHL in time on ice, before Cameron the other team generate more offense while he was on the ice.
The Senators have seen an increase in possession numbers since Cameron took over. Next time we will be analyzing more statistics related to their recent play. It is good news to see that many Senators players have seen increase in their Corsi% since Dave took over. The teams first line, top defenseman, and even depth defenseman and grinders have seen increases in key statistics.
The Dave Cameron era of the Senators could be very productive in moving forward.
