With the news of Ottawa defenseman Marc Methot joining the Binghamton Senators this weekend on a conditioning stint as posted by Jack, Chris Wideman will be his replacement for Saturday’s 1:00 faceoff in Boston. Now whether he plays or not is another thing as he might be there serving as an insurance basis only. Also not quite clear is on the length of the recall as Binghamton plays Syracuse on Saturday with Methot in the line-up and an option remains open in Portland next Wednesday.

This is the first call-up for Wideman as a third year pro out of St. Louis, MO. He’s known for with his offensive talents in leading the league amongst defensemen with 12 goals and 17 assists in 32 games. Chris also is the club leader in shots with 107 as his strong point is him quarterbacking the Senators power play with Alex Grant on the opposite side.
Wideman has been paired up with Daniel New and Mike Sdao on a rotation basis on the third unit throughout the first half of the season, but has shown confidence in puck management not only on the power play, but in his zone in leading out a break out play.
He should be a reliable addition to the Ottawa Senators for any power play’s alongside of forward Mike Hoffman, as the two lit it often in Binghamton, that is if he will be suited.
Nonetheless, that would be the scenario if he will be included. Here’s hoping he’s in the game’s line-up against the Boston Bruins in Saturday’s afternoon affair.
