Jean-Gabriel Pageau Called Up To Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators have recalled Jean-Gabriel Pageau from their affiliate in Binghamton today to help in relief for some recent injuries suffered to the big club. The move takes place as Ottawa visits the Buffalo Sabres on Monday without the services of forward’s Zack Smith, Chris Neil and Milan Michalek as they are all out.

Pageau has been one of the more consistent player’s for Binghamton so far this season scoring 8 goals and 10 assists in 25 games with a +6 as appointed the letter ‘A’ sewn on his jersey, as that role has served him well. Pageau leads the AHL  with 94 shots scoring on 8.5% of the time as the team is also a league best 3.36 goals on average per game. He has been included on all situation’s of play for Binghamton including the special team’s being paired up with Buddy Robinson on the penalty kill which is currently ranked 16th at 83.1%.

His leadership in the locker room is undeniable and also spills out on the ice being the team spark plug centering the #1 line between Cole Schneider, Matt Puempel and as of late helping getting Alex Guptill’s game going. The third year pro out of Ottawa is in his final season of his three-year entry-level contract and is making a strong case in Binghamton to be re-signed during the off-season as the organization can’t afford to let this level of talent elude them.

Here’s hoping he sticks for a while up top based on his merit’s, but at the same time it’s going to hurt here in Binghamton, with three games on four nights coming up later this week.

UPDATE: 9mm was able to play in the Senators loss to Buffalo. Pageau will likely be returned to Binghamton in time for Wednesday’s game in Allentown, PA against the Phantoms.

UPDATE II: Pageau will make his season debut instead for Ottawa on Wednesday.
