NHL Roundup – 12/10/14: Leafs, Kings Get On The Board

After all 30 teams played on Saturday night, you knew it was going to be a light schedule on Sunday, with the NHL not wanting to go head to head with the NFL on too many fronts.  There were 2 games on the docket, with 2 struggling teams getting their first wins of the season.  Here is you daily NHL roundup.

The Toronto Maple Leafs got goals from 6 different players and chased

Henrik Lundqvist

from the net of the New York Rangers en route to a 6-3 win.  After being the subject of much criticism during the Leafs 0-2 start (Senators fans aren’t the only ones prone to over-reaction), the Buds’ top line each had goals and combined for 7 points with

Phil Kessel

scoring a goal and 2 assists, and

Tyler Bozak

and

James van Riemsdyk

each having a goal and an assist.

Cody Franson

, making his season debut added a goal and an assist while

Nazem Kadri

and

David Clarkson

had the other Toronto goals.  Neither starting goalie lasted the game as

James Reimer

left the game early in the third period after being “knocked on the head” by Rangers forward

Dominic Moore

.

Rick Nash

scored for the Rangers before leaving after 2 periods to attend the impending birth of his child.  Derek Brassard and

Lee Stempniak

also scored for the Rangers.
