SenShot Predicts: Ottawa Senators vs Tampa Bay Lightning

facebooktwitterreddit

Well the SenShot staff got off to an unimpressive start. We all took the Senators to beat the Predators on Thursday night, and we all know how that went.

So, does that performance change what direction our writers are going to go as they make their predictions for tonight’s game in Tampa?  Lets find out.

Jack Leiper (0-1)

I’ll say that Tampa tops Ottawa. Not a close one either. Stamkos, Bishop, Hedman and the young kids are too much to handle for Ottawa. I’ll say they fall 4-0. Ottawa looks to rebound against Florida in their next match.

Eldrinson Vado (0-1)

I hurts for me to say this but I have to go against the Sens tonight and say Tampa Bay wins. They have too much fire power in Steven Stamkos, Victor Hedman and Ryan Callahan. A 4-2 Lighting victory is my prediction today.

Charlie Arseneault (0-1)

Ben Bishop. The Sens miss him, but I’m sure he doesn’t miss the Sens. He’ll be stellar, along with the Lightning’s offense. There’s no reason to believe the Sens’ defense can keep the Lightning out of their zone. This one won’t be pretty. 4-1 Lightning.

Zachary Prenner (0-1)

Tampa Bay had a productive offseason and are favorites to move into the upper echelon of the East this season. The Sens played well against Nashville for the first two periods, but played sloppy and uninspiring in the third, which was ultimately their undoing. If the Sens can play like they did for the first half of their opener then they’ll stand a chance, but I’m a little worried by some of what I saw Wednesday and think Tampa might be too much for us to handle right off the bat. I say, hoping to be wrong, Tampa wins 5-2.

Travis Valois (0-1)

The Senators went 2-2-1 against the Lightning last year.  Karlsson had an impressive 8 points against Tampa last year. I am hoping the trend continues. I’m not sure if the Senators are going to take this game. Stamkos and only played the Sens in 2 out of 5 games last year, he will be in action for this contest.  Tampa Win

Jared Crozier (0-1)

This Ottawa team is predictably unpredictable and consistently inconsistent.  Just when you think you might have them figured out they take a U-turn.  I will go against the grain and say that Erik Karlsson and Bobby Ryan, who were not good last game, will have a chip on their shoulder.  Robin Lehner will also see this as a chance to make a statement for the #1 job in net and carry the Senators to a win.

So there you have it, lots of honest opinions with most leaning toward Tampa Bay…we will see how it pans out…feel free to make your own prediction below.
