Last night’s Top 10 on TSN’s SportsCentre looked at the top 10 “Making Them Miss” moments, inspired by the Ottawa RedBlacks’ inability to bring down Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Weston Dressler on Sunday afternoon, en route to another tough to take loss.
Part of that top 10 list was Jason Spezza‘s memorable undressing of Sheldon Souray oh so many years ago, bringing back a bit of a wistful feeling that we wouldn’t be seeing that any more from 19 as a member of the Senators.
However, even further up the list was another rather remarkable goal, one scored bycurrent Senators winger Bobby Ryan on April 22, 2011, while he was a member of the Anaheim Ducks.
You have probably seen it before, but it is so nice it is worth another look!
The amusing thing to note is the player Ryan un-dresed not once but twice – new Ottawa Senators centre
David Legwand. Legwand was a member of the Nashville Predators at the time, and it wasn’t an example of stellar defensive play.
I wonder if the two have had any laughs over this goal, as it is a spectacular example of what Ryan can do, and also probably not among the highlights of Legwand’s long career.
Legwand came to Ottawa with the promise of being a solid two-way forward, and hopefully he doesn’t have any of those moments in a Senators uniform.

Sure, they could laugh about it now, two and a half years later, and hopefully Ryan can make similar highlight reel plays, the NHL’s version of “posterizing” opposing defensemen.
