Comparing SenShot’s Mock Draft With What Really Happened

In the weeks leading up to the NHL draft, I did a mock draft, like many other people around the internet.  When comparing my mock draft to what actually happened on Friday night, I am pretty pleased with the results.

Nine of the top ten picks were in my top ten, including the entire top 5, except I had Sam Reinhart and Leon Draisaitl swapped.

More from Draft

In all, 27 of the 30 picks in the NHL draft were on my mock draft. The three I didn’t have were 13th overall Jakub Vrana, 27th pick Nikolay Goldobin and 30th pick John Quenneville.

My biggest miss was Kasperi Kapanen, who I had slotted 8th and dropped to 22nd, as well as Jake Virtanen who was the lone pick in the top 10 that I missed, who I had ranked 12th.

Kingston Frontenacs defenseman Roland McKeown, who I had ranked 19th, fell to the end of the second round and the #60 spot.

Seventeen of my picks went within 3 spots of where they were actually taken.

Here is the first round listed with where I had each player going.
