Nathan MacKinnon scored his first NHL goal and added an assist, while Alex Tanguay counted twice in Colorado’s 5-1 win over the Capitals.  The Avalanche remained perfect on the season, moving to 5-0-0, with Semyon Varlamov making 40 saves. Matt Duchene and Jamie McGinn had the other Avalance goals, while Andre Benoit, Gabriel Landeskog and Paul Stastny each had 2 assists.

Eric Fehr had the lone Washington goal, while Michal Neuvirth was victimized by 5 goals on 28 shots.
