Daniel Alfredsson Back In Ottawa, May Speak Publicly This Week

According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, former Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson is back in the City of Ottawa, and was at the Sensplex Today.

Garrioch also stated that there was a likelihood that he would finally break the silence that has surrounded the whole situation since he decided to sign with the Red Wings on July 5th.

Obviously, we won’t get the whole story out of Alfredsson (I almost called him The Captain out of force of habit but that ship has sailed), because he has too much class to throw the franchise under the bus like that on his way out of town.  Besides, he pretty much did that in his Detroit press conference on the day he signed with the Wings, by stating that the Senators were not a legitimate Cup contender right now.

Opinion is still very split as to people’s feelings on Alfredsson’s move.  I wonder if, now more than a full month after the fact, there is anything he can say that will change how those people who feel Alfie turned on the team, the city, or both to make them feel any better about him and his decision.

Do you think Alfredsson’s statment/press conference will shed any real light on the reasons why he left and do you think you will feel differently after he speaks?
