The Readers Rate The Senators – The Defense

In late June/Early July, I went through the Senators roster and gave grades to each player based on their performance for the season.  I also asked readers to vote their opinions and now I will compile them and give the results of that voting and compare them to what I gave them.

Earlier today I looked at the goalies, now turning to the defensemen.

My Grade:  B

The Fans Said:  It was pretty split between A and B, with 47% giving him an A with the other 53% going B and C.

My Grade:  C

The Fans Said:  There was really no agreement among the fans, with votes ranging from A to D, with a couple of INCOMPLTES.  The top votegetters were A and C in a tie.

Jared Cowen

My Grade:  INCOMPLETE

The Fans Said:  While a lot of people agreed with me that there simply wasn’t enough of a sample size to give a grade.  Of those who did grade him, the prevailing grade was a B.

My Grade:  A

The Fans Say:  Most of the fans also considered his performance worthy of an A.  Over 50% went in that direction, with only 10% going lower than a B.

Eric Gryba

My Grade:  B+

The Fans Say:  While B+ wasn’t an option, the fans were very happy with what Gryba gave them.  45% voted B with an additional 30% going to A.  5% voted D.

My Grade:  A

The Fans Say:  Even though he had his season cut dramatically short, the Fans still appreciated the player to the point that 79% still gave him an A, with 15% giving him a B.  One person gave him a D, no doubt a jealous P.K. Subban fan!

My Grade:  F

The Fans Say:  Pretty much in agreement, with 47% giving him an F and another 37% going for incomplete.  A surprising 7% gave him an A – family and friends, perhaps?

The Fans Say:  Overwhelmingly, with 89% the grade is an A.  The other 11% voted for B.

The Fans Say:  For the most part, B was the consensus grade, with 48%, but another 40% went even higher and gave him an A.

The Fans Say:  With 51%, the grade B led the way, bookended by 27% saying A and 20% going with a C.
