Very Surprisingly, Ben Bishop Is The NHL’s 3rd Star Of The Week
I was caught a bit by surprise that Ben Bishop was allegedly named the NHL’s 3rd star of the week, after winning all three of his appearances this past week. The news came out on twitter by some members of the Ottawa media earlier this morning. I have not seen confirmation on NHL.com as of yet. No doubt Jakub Voracek will be the first star, and I don’t know who the second star is as of now.

Bishop allowed only 1 goal in a 2-1 shootout win against New Jersey last Monday, stepped in to beat the Rangers in a shootout on Thursday after Craig Anderson went down early in the third period, and then beat the archrival Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
However, he was only a second star in the New Jersey game, and didn’t get a star in either other game. Fallen goaltender Anderson was the first star in both the win over the Islanders and the no decision against the Rangers when he left after 43 minutes but still was the game’s best player
Not saying Bishop didn’t have a good week, and the accolades are nice, but surely someone at the NHL office wasn’t really paying attention to what was going on and just looked at numbers. He wasn’t even the best goaltender on his team this week, let alone the third best player in the league.
