Fansided NHL Mock Draft Pick 10 – Tampa Bay Lightning

The top 10 comes to an end with the Tampa Bay Lightning, who go a little off the board in selecting Latvian Zemgus Girgensons, a centre who has played the last 2 seasons with Dubuque in the USHL.

Here is Bolts By The Bay’s announcement of their selection.

SenShot’s Take

Girgensons is a slick skater who gained prominence in the World Juniors, where he represented Latvia.  He was a standout for that team, although it wasn’t one of the top-tier teams in the tournament.  His compete level was on par with the top players around him, and he tallied twice.  Committed to attend the University of Vermont in the fall, he has become accustomed to the North American style by suiting up in the USHL for the past 2 seasons, amassing 104 points in 100 games.

Perhaps a risky pick, but one that if it pans out, could bolster an already young nucleus of talented forwards in Tampa.
