Fansided Mock Draft Pick 2 – Columbus Blue Jackets

On behalf of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Fire That Cannon step to the podium after the Oilers and select Mikhail Grigorenko, center from the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL.

SenShot’s Take

With the Blue Jackets in striking distance of becoming the laughinsto of the NHL, they could go any number of directions with the #2 pick.  The way things are going for the Jackets, everything they touch seems to work against them.  With the future of franchise winger Rick Nash in doubt, Grigerenko adds to a young core of centremen including Ryan Johansen and Derrick Brassard.  However, the build is still seemingly in its infancy and I question whether going with a somewhat enigmatic Russian forward is the best decision for this club.  With Jack Johnson and James Wisniewski already in the fold, adding Ryan Murray could give the team an identity that has long been missing in Columbus.

Grigerenko should be a good NHL player, but I don’t think he is the best option for the Blue Jackets in this spot.
