Game 7: NJD @ FLA – Miracle Run Over For Florida

facebooktwitterreddit

The biggest game of the season for both these teams, Game 7 in Florida. One major lineup change would be Jose Theodore returning to goal after missing Game 6 due to injury. The game would start off terribly for the home team as just 1:29 in Adam Henrique would get his first of the series tipping a shot past Theodore. 1-0 Devils after one. They would increase the lead to 2-0 after two as Stephen Gionta would backhand one into the net at 9:15.

Down two goals in the third, the Panthers weren’t fazed. 5:02 Stephen Weiss would bring them within one. They would tie it at 16:32 on a Marcel Goc wrist shot. With the score tied 2-2, we’d head to OT. The first overtime would solve nothing with both goalies making several huge saves. In the second OT it would be a heartbreak for the home crowd as a turnover in their own zone would result in Henrique getting his second goal of the series wristing one through Theodore’s five hole. Devils win 3-2. Martin Brodeur was phenomenal under pressure stopping 43/45 shots to lead New Jersey to the second round.
