Bishop Up, Lehner Down

The Ottawa Senators have just announced that they have called up Ben Bishop from the Binghamton Senators and sent back Robin Lehner. It’s a surprising move to some seeing how well Lehner has played, but Paul MacLean did say that Bishop would get a start for the big club sooner than later. While Lehner had been tearing it up in the NHL, Bishop wasn’t doing too shabby himself in the AHL. In 3 GP for Binghamton he posted a GAA of 2.35 and SV% of .944. It will be interesting to see if he can bring those numbers to the NHL. His last NHL stint came last season where he played 7 games for the Blues, finishing with a 2.76 GAA and .899 SV%. Bishop will be wearing Brian Elliott’s old number #30 and is expected to start in goal for Ottawa tomorrow against the Lightning.
