Game Day: OTT vs TOR

September 13, 2011: 7 pm on RogersTV 22

Your Ottawa Senators get back into action tonight as they continue on with their Rookie Tournament after a day off. Looking for tournament bragging rights, Ottawa squares off against the rookies from the Toronto Maple Leafs organization in a battle of undefeated teams. Coming off an 6-5 exciting win over the rooks from the Chicago Blackhawks Sunday afternoon, Ottawa looks to continue their winning ways and go three-for-three in the tourney.

Ottawa’s second game was a little less structured than their first game, but they still managed to get the job done. One of the main reasons for the high scoring game was that super prospect, Robin Lehner had the game off. But the Hunter will be back in nets ready to continue his shutout streak from his last game.

Toronto comes into the game outscoring their opponents 9-3 as they beat the Hawks and Pens rooks’ pretty easily. Ottawa has outscored their opponents 10-5, so this game has the potential to be a high scoring affair.

OTTAWA ~ Stephane Da Costa ~ He looked great in game one of the tournament, and broke out for three goals and an assist in game two. What does he have up his sleeve for an encore? Gearing up for Sens main training camp, Da Costa is turning heads with his play so far.

OTTAWA ~ Robin Lehner ~ What will Lehner do for an encore as he got the only shutout of the tournament thus far. Looking to prove himself to Sens’ brass, look for Lehner to be a man on a mission tonight.

After today’s game, some of Ottawa’s rookies will head to main training camp in Ottawa to compete for NHL jobs and to get NHL experience. Some rookies will head to their respective junior squads to begin their seasons there. With Ottawa’s first pre-season game on Monday night, the 2011-2012 NHL season is almost here.
