The Cinderella run by this year’s Binghamton Senators came to a glass-shoe-fitting, explosion of an ending last night. By a score of 3-2 over the Houston Aeros in Game #6, the B-Sens captured the AHL’s grand prize – they are the Champions! They defied all the odds, they were pillaged by injures and call-ups all season long, they were left for dead, down 3-1 in the first round against Manchester. And now, with all said and done, they are the last team standing.  Congratulations, Bingo!

– Bingo took the finals in six games, 4-2.

Robin Lehner was named MVP with a final playoff record of 14-4, a 2.10 GAA and a .939 %

In classy fashion, the team dedicated the win to assistant coach Steve “Stirls” Stirling. Stirling is recovering from emergency quadrupal bypass surgery on the weekend. The players honoured him with a “get well soon” banner and captain Ryan Keller had the coach’s name placard. Video courtesy of Binghamton Senators.

Stay tuned. Much more on the Calder Cup Champs tomorrow!
