Alfie Going Under The Knife Friday

facebooktwitterreddit

The injury that plagued Ottawa Captain Daniel Alfredsson for much of the 2010-11 season has finally forced the 38 year old to undergo surgery, after rehab failed to solve the problem.  The procedure is going to relieve the pressure on a nerve that didn’t allow his skating to be as effective as it should be.  The surgery is scheduled for this Friday and he is expected to take 4-6 weeks to recover, but knowing Alfredsson’s reputation as a quick healer, could be closer to the 4 week mark.

Alfie is expected to be in tip top shape in time for training camp.  Hopefully things heal to the point where he can be the effective top-line player the injury didn’t allow him to be last season.
