B-Sens Win Game Six 3-0, Advance To Eastern Conference Finals

The Binghamton Senators looked to move on to the AHL Eastern Conference Finals last night as they played game six of their second round AHL playoffs series versus the Portland Pirates. Leading the series three games to two, Bingo was hoping to not have to play a game seven. With both game six and seven being played in Portland, Binghamton would need to win this series in hostile territory.

The game couldn’t have started off any better for Binghamton as they scored 25 seconds into the game. On a pass from Jared Cowen, Jimmy O’Brien broke in a ripped a wrister past the Pirates tender for the 1-0 lead. Zach Smith added an insurance goal in the second period to push Bingo’s lead to two. From there, goalie Robin Lehner took over as he made 36 saves for the shutout. Kaspars Daugavins added an empty net goal to make the final 3-0 and a 4-2 series win for Binghamton.

Check out the game highlights courtesy of the Binghamton Senators.

In his first action for the Binghamton Senators, Jared Cowen had a huge game. Playing solid defensively, Cowen also added an assist on his first shift of his pro career. Now on to the third round, Cowen’s role will only increase.

Kaspars Daugavins added to his playoff totals with a goal and a assist last night as he is now third in team scoring and second in playoff goals with eight.

Robin Lehner continues his amazing playoff run as his record is now 7-2 along with one shutout. Lehner sports a GAA of 2.59 and a SV% of 0.926. The Hunter is on a roll.

The B-Sens do not know who their opponents will be for the next round as they await the conclusion of the Charlotte Checkers – Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins series. Charlotte leads the series 3-2 with game six set to go tonight. For now, the Binghamton Senators can enjoy their time-off before the Eastern Conference Finals begin.
