The Captain Speaks

Having not been heard from in awhile, Sens captain Daniel Alfredsson  spoke to the media today on a number of topics. Having been sidelined with a nagging back injury, Alfie revealed that the injury is worst than first thought. Skating for the first time in weeks, Alfie lost power in his right leg while skating which is not a good sign in the healing process. Even though he hopes to return this season, it might be best if management shuts him down so he can mend his wonky back.

On the trade deadline  front, Aflie was sad to see long-time teammates Chris Kelly and Mike Fisher be traded out of town. He hoped that they all would have won a championship together. Alfie was visibly disappointed by this year’s results, but understands the business and knows that changes needed to be made.

On going through a rebuild, Alfie seems to be upbeat about the challenge and is prepared to take on a mentoring role. He has gone through one before in Ottawa and knows that there will be some tough nights, but he is certain Ottawa will come out of this rebuild on top.
